Description

  • Drive systems thinking, processes, and capabilities for core products including Altius, Anvil, Bolt, and Ghost.
  • Partner with product leads and business lines to scope, staff, and deliver capabilities against company milestones.
  • Work with functional engineering teams to define architectural design for safety, reliability, usability, modularity, upgradability, maintainability, and diagnosability.
  • Drive system and subsystem requirements, including risk reduction and verification and validation strategies for system-of-systems and subsystem assemblies.
  • Execute and manage System Hazard Analyses and subsystem Failure Modes and Effects Analyses to support safety and reliability requirements.
  • Coordinate and execute test events across levels of integration, from software simulation to flight testing.
  • Interpret and apply defense and industry standards for safety and interoperability, including STANAG and relevant MIL-STD requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted technical partner to functional engineers and organizational leaders, demonstrating strong ownership of outcomes.
  • Ensure requirements align tightly with the organization’s capability roadmap to enable efficient development and rapid iteration.
  • Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies and inefficiencies, and lead complex technical initiatives across multiple programs.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in defense or a safety-critical industry.
  • Experience with safety-critical development standards, reliability and safety fault/hazard analysis, and requirements-driven verification and validation strategies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency applying engineering standards within engineering processes.
  • Experience writing verifiable system-level, subsystem-level, and software/hardware/component-level requirements.
  • Experience conducting safety and reliability analyses such as PHAs, SHAs, FME(C)As, or FTAs.
  • Experience with systems and Python.
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and release processes.
  • Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers (JTAG, SWD, etc.), current probes, and test automation.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and challenging problems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for test field events.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. security clearance.
  • Preferred: experience developing electromechanical system models to inform design, operation, and troubleshooting of complex subsystems.
  • Preferred: hands-on manufacturing and/or flight testing experience.
  • Preferred: experience in design engineering.
  • Preferred: experience in software engineering.
  • Preferred: understanding of aerodynamics, avionics, and flight systems.
