Description

  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers in AWS across Amazon Linux 2023, Ubuntu 22.04+, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9.
  • Diagnose and resolve operating system, networking, storage, and performance issues across the server fleet.
  • Recommend server configuration changes to improve workload performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Support and maintain Linux-based virtual desktop environments on VMware and AWS WorkSpaces.
  • Develop and maintain Linux security baselines aligned with CIS benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with application owners to adjust security baselines without weakening the security posture.
  • Perform enterprise-wide configuration management using Ansible.
  • Author, maintain, and version-control Ansible playbooks for repeatable system configurations and operational tasks.
  • Work with application owners, developers, and analytics engineers to deploy, upgrade, migrate, and maintain Linux applications.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and observability to maximize uptime and reduce downtime.
  • Oversee regular and ad-hoc patching efforts to ensure timely vulnerability remediation and SLA compliance.
  • Deploy and manage infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation and AWS Service Catalog, and maintain reusable standardized templates.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience managing Linux systems in a production environment.
  • 2 or more years of experience performing configuration management using Ansible, including authoring and maintaining playbooks and roles.
  • 2 or more years of experience supporting Linux virtual desktops.
  • Experience working in a large government, financial, regulatory, or corporate environment with formal change management, security compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience supporting analytics infrastructure such as Hadoop clusters, AWS EMR, HPC grid clusters using SLURM, AWS Parallel Cluster, or other distributed computing platforms preferred.
  • Experience administering VMware virtual desktops or AWS WorkSpaces at scale preferred.
  • Proficiency with Python for automation, scripting, and tooling development preferred.
  • Red Hat certifications preferred.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications preferred.
  • Public Trust High (Tier 4/BI) Risk Level clearance required.
  • Must be a US citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
  • Position available in D.C. or remote.
