Description

  • Drive supplier quality development through design reviews, supplier process development, testing, and qualification for cable and wire harness components and sub-assemblies.
  • Partner with development engineering or manufacturing engineering to design, develop, qualify, and implement functional test processes at suppliers for unique cable and wire harness products.
  • Collaborate with development engineering, product quality engineering, category management, and program management to support predictable supply for development and production programs.
  • Manage supplier technical performance exceptions, containments, and deviations while driving readiness through critical characteristic analysis, measurement systems, and qualification activities such as PPAP, FAIR, audits, and inspection development.
  • Work with Supply Chain to improve supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and fulfillment objectives.
  • Own supplier risk reduction efforts to improve quality and reliability across the product lifecycle through audits, readiness reviews, training, and documentation.
  • Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities and own containments for purchased goods.
  • Drive supplier corrective action and response (SCAR) processes and communicate lessons learned across product teams.
  • Audit supplier Quality Management Systems and improve documentation and activities to ensure compliance with customer flow-down requirements.
  • Prepare for, support, and lead supplier onsite audits and reviews for contract deliverables, quality management, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, onsite Quality Engineering for inspection, or Manufacturing Engineering in wire harness production.
  • At least 3 years of experience performing source inspection at wire harness manufacturing suppliers.
  • Experience flowing down Source Control requirements to suppliers.
  • Experience implementing Control Plans in a wire harness manufacturing setting.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001-based Quality Management System requirements.
  • Active or former IPC 620 certification.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspection to the AS9102 industry standard.
  • Experience driving supplier performance and evaluation, including working with SOWs, quality clauses, intellectual property, and government regulations such as ITAR.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, quality improvement techniques, and GD&T.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive projects from start to finish.
  • Analytical skills for data mining, data quality, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical analysis tools such as MatLab, JMP, or MiniTab.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Ability to travel 25%–50% of the time to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations.
  • Preferred: Experience creating material and process specifications for wire harness fabrication.
  • Preferred: Experience with functional and Hi-Pot testing for wire harness assemblies.
  • Preferred: Experience with PFMEA and developing source inspection plans and qualifying inspection process capabilities.
  • Preferred: Experience with government contracts and MIL standard requirements.
  • Preferred: Experience with Teamcenter, SolidWorks, Oracle/Netsuite, Jira, Tableau, and Foundry.
