Description

  • Design, develop, and debug hardware and software prototypes, including 3D printing and hardware fixturing.
  • Build prototype software in C++ and Python across evolving hardware, firmware, and application layers.
  • Work in embedded and on-device environments and debug issues across the full stack from hardware to applications.
  • Drive bring-up, validation, and calibration of new and existing sensors and optimize their performance.
  • Formulate and implement software architectures for prototypes on short timelines with an emphasis on flexibility and clarity.
  • Propose and prototype innovative solutions using emerging technologies for complex real-world problems.
  • Integrate with and extend existing drivers, software frameworks, and mature codebase components, including proprietary source code when needed.
  • Collaborate with sensor, camera, systems, product, and other engineering teams to integrate components and deliver project outcomes.
  • Produce lightweight documentation for prototypes, including technical overviews, purpose, and usage notes.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience or 5+ years of applied research experience with strong hardware-software integration focus.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, meaning a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder, due to government contract requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and C++.
  • Experience with CUDA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development across hardware and software.
  • Practical experience with sensor integration, bring-up, validation, and calibration for sensors such as IMUs, biometric sensors, RF sensors, and 2D/3D imaging systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Experience with sensor or camera driver/firmware development is preferred.
  • Experience with image or sensor signal processing and calibration is preferred.
  • Experience with hardware prototyping, including 3D CAD and mechanical design, is preferred.
  • Practical experience with computer vision, machine learning, or related fields is preferred.
