Description

  • Work closely with colleagues to build effective solutions for customer problems.
  • Improve the throughput and performance of the core backend job processing engine.
  • Shape workflow execution at the core of the system.
  • Write and review high-quality, well-tested code to keep the product stable.
  • Identify and implement improvements in the codebase and team processes.
  • Own problems and solutions through production and respond to customer feedback.
  • Mentor other engineers and support their growth.
  • Contribute across the stack as needed in a broad, non-specialized role.
  • Improve action throughput and optimize job prioritization, event storage, search, and fairness in job execution.
  • Enhance observability with features for monitoring workflow status, latency, and proactive alerts.

Requirements

  • Roughly 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Proven track record as a senior software engineer.
  • Direct experience building and delivering software using a high-level programming language.
  • Comfort working through a coding exercise that adds features to a small command-line app.
  • Ability to work broadly across a software stack and pitch in where needed.
  • Familiarity with Ruby, TypeScript, React, Postgres, Redis, AWS CDK, and Docker is helpful, but not required.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a supportive team environment.
  • Commitment to working safely and sustainably with reasonable hours and realistic workloads.
  • Cybersecurity knowledge is not required.
