Description

  • Own the physical design, prototyping, and fabrication of production equipment.
  • Develop tooling solutions for fabrication and assembly of structural parts.
  • Create detailed mechanical designs, including 3D models and 2D drawings in NX.
  • Select materials based on mechanical performance, environment, cost, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Perform engineering calculations from first principles for loads, lifting, and center of gravity.
  • Run FEA simulations to validate and optimize structural and dynamic performance.
  • Design and develop mechanical test equipment, including submerged Factory Acceptance Testing setups.
  • Support production through DFM/DFA reviews and fixture/equipment design as a subject matter expert.
  • Select and manage suppliers to meet timeline and cost requirements.
  • Oversee physical assembly, commissioning, and troubleshooting of designed systems.
  • Maintain and update designs in Teamcenter PLM.
  • Ensure processes and equipment meet safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • BS, M.Eng, or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant engineering field, preferably mechanical design for manufacturing.
  • Professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer with one or more domains or technologies of expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong skills in NX for 3D modelling and 2D drawing creation.
  • Proficiency with FEA in NX, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
  • Experience with physical assembly and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in engineering calculations and material selection.
  • Proficiency with engineering standards and GD&T.
  • Ability to manage suppliers and project timelines effectively.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian NV2 Security clearance.
  • Experience with NX/Teamcenter (preferred).
  • Experience designing tooling, jigs, and fixtures (preferred).
  • Experience supporting production in an advanced manufacturing organization (preferred).
  • Understanding of load testing and prescription for mechanical fixtures (preferred).
  • Knowledge of corrosion prevention techniques (preferred).
