Description

  • Manage and grow a team of 10–15 engineers while fostering a high-performance, mission-focused culture.
  • Partner with product, mission systems, and technical leadership to define objectives and prioritize work.
  • Drive execution by removing blockers, securing resources, and promoting agile delivery practices.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the team and senior leadership, communicating status and expectations.
  • Oversee architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance, low-latency edge software features.
  • Guide technical decisions around memory safety, concurrency, inter-process communication, and hardware-software interfaces.
  • Champion code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and other quality practices for embedded and distributed deployments.
  • Collaborate across teams to support system integration and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Coach engineers and support career development through feedback and structured growth plans.
  • Travel occasionally, up to 10% of the time, to observe real-world operational environments and field needs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineering manager leading high-performing teams.
  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Strong experience building resilient, high-performance software for distributed edge systems, networked applications, and Embedded Linux environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in C++ or Rust, or both.
  • Deep understanding of systems programming, memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization in resource-constrained environments.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex software projects under tight deadlines in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop engineers.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and process improvement.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • Preferred: experience leading teams in command and control, robotics, or defense applications.
  • Preferred: familiarity with modern DevOps and CI/CD practices for embedded and distributed deployments.
  • Preferred: background in distributed systems, connected ecosystems, and hardware integrations.
  • Preferred: experience with IoT device management, telemetry, and secure over-the-air (OTA) updates.
  • Preferred: experience with multi-domain operations, networking, security, system integration, device drivers, or firmware development.
