Description

  • Set the technical strategy for the machine learning team and align it with business-impacting projects across repayment, collections, recovery, and loss mitigation.
  • Lead and manage a team of machine learning engineers working on models for repayment behaviour prediction and personalized collections.
  • Partner with product management, design, analytics, and risk teams to manage technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs across the product development lifecycle.
  • Define and advocate technical solutions and operational processes that improve team effectiveness and scalability.
  • Mentor and develop engineers by providing feedback, guidance, and hands-on leadership.
  • Contribute to the long-term machine learning strategy for the company.
  • Work with code and architecture directly to provide technical leadership and help solve complex, ambiguous problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineers.
  • Background in financial services, specifically credit or lending.
  • Hands-on experience in post-origination modeling such as collections, repayment, recovery, loss mitigation, early-warning, or behavioural risk.
  • Proficiency in machine learning, including experience with tree-based models, transformers, deep learning, and agentic ML.
  • Strong engineering skills and the ability to provide hands-on technical leadership.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and understanding systems from low-level implementation details to large-scale architecture.
  • Based in Europe, with candidates in the UK, Poland, or Spain considered.
