Description

  • Define and maintain the technical direction for backend APIs, services, and checkout experiences.
  • Ensure high performance, scalability, and security across large volumes of concurrent payment transactions.
  • Drive execution through incomplete or evolving requirements to keep the payments platform robust and future-ready.
  • Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and conduct performance reviews to support team growth and engineering standards.
  • Stay deeply involved in hands-on development of the managed payments platform.
  • Design, develop, and maintain services for payment processing, billing, and transaction flows.
  • Serve as the bridge between engineering and business stakeholders, including product, finance, and customer support.
  • Lead cross-team collaboration to resolve payment-related issues and deliver new features.
  • Oversee integrations with third-party payment providers and gateways such as Stripe, Adyen, and Braintree.
  • Ensure adherence to data security and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • 10 years of total professional experience, including at least 3 years in a lead or management role.
  • Hands-on experience in payments, e-commerce, billing systems, or checkout flows.
  • Strong backend development and API design experience, plus web or full-stack development experience.
  • Experience with Go and TypeScript, or the ability to adapt quickly to a new stack.
  • Solid understanding of SQL or NoSQL databases, caching, message queues, and cloud-native environments such as AWS, GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • A proactive, self-driven ownership mindset with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a senior team and support their growth.
  • Experience with subscription billing platforms is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of financial ledger systems is preferred.
