Description

  • Weigh, dose, and mix solid rocket fuel ingredients.
  • Perform nozzle and igniter assembly operations.
  • Install igniter and nozzle assemblies onto multiple types of solid rocket motors.
  • Collect and enter production data.
  • Clean, reset, and maintain tooling used in assembly operations.
  • Adapt quickly to new designs and changing manufacturing processes.
  • Provide input to Manufacturing Engineering on process development, continuous improvement, and work instruction revisions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience building solid rocket motors, with adjacent industry experience or a mechanical or chemical engineering degree contributing toward this requirement.
  • Experience handling dangerous and/or toxic chemicals, preferably while wearing a respirator.
  • Basic familiarity with AS9100 requirements and the importance of personal warranty during operation buy-off.
  • Proficiency reading and using calipers, scales, and gages.
  • Strong adherence to safety precautions when handling chemicals and performing energetic operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools and standard industrial adhesives.
  • Proficiency with computer applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, medium- to heavy-duty assembly technical environment.
  • Ability to perform regular stair climbing, frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds and perform frequent repetitive hand movements with a variety of tooling.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Experience in chemistry, manufacturing, or similar fields (preferred).
  • Experience with the aerospace and defense industries (preferred).
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance (preferred).
