Description

  • Execute assigned tasks and deliver project activities with accountability for completing assigned deliverables.
  • Support engineers by building prototypes, sub-assemblies, and feasibility test units or samples.
  • Use drawings, diagrams, written and verbal instructions, layouts, and defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting.
  • Repair and rework PCBAs and cable harnesses or assemblies during engineering tests.
  • Procure and source electrical components under the direction of lead engineers and other engineers.
  • Fabricate special test equipment, electronic test boxes, and harnesses.
  • Set up and use standard test equipment, including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and digital multimeters.
  • Perform harness builds and circuit board modifications, including component rework and soldering or desoldering to IPC standards.
  • Adapt work plans in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous targets and changing outcomes.
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites to troubleshoot and repair hardware.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as an engineering technician in a prototype or engineering development lab environment.
  • Ability to read and understand complex PCBA schematics, cable assembly drawings, and test procedures without detailed assembly instructions.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting prototype electro-mechanical hardware such as PCBAs, cables, wiring harnesses, and assemblies.
  • Experience with standard electrical prototyping processes, including PCBA rework.
  • Extensive prototyping experience with soldering, crimping, and assembling cables to IPC standards.
  • Knowledge of electrical components, connectors, basic hand tools, and crimping equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical concepts and fundamental electrical engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to customer sites; occasional travel of 5%–10% is mentioned.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Associate degree in electronics, electrical assembly, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of PCBs, PCBAs, prototyping, and assembly techniques is preferred.
  • Experience with task management software such as Trello or JIRA is preferred.
  • Experience with electrical CAD tools such as Altium, Rapid Harness, or other EWIS software is preferred.
  • Ability to hand solder PCBAs per J-STD, IPC-A-610, or IPC 7711 is preferred.
  • Wire harness experience in accordance with IPC-A-620 standards is preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed is preferred.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted is preferred.
