Description

  • Lead MDAO initiatives by defining and executing trade studies with air-vehicle design, analysis teams, and technical leadership.
  • Shape the MDAO capability roadmap with the Engineering Tools Lead and deploy multi-fidelity workflows across programs.
  • Design and implement parameterized, watertight, CAD-based scripted geometry models for multidisciplinary analysis.
  • Integrate disciplinary models earlier in the design process to improve tradespace decisions and design insights.
  • Develop and apply advanced MDAO methods and models to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Apply AI solutions within MDAO workflows to enhance automation, efficiency, and discovery.
  • Identify workflow gaps and bottlenecks, then recommend and implement improvements to multi-fidelity processes.
  • Run automated MDAO workflows, DOE studies, optimizations, sensitivity analyses, and uncertainty quantification analyses.
  • Mentor discipline experts on building robust models and tools for multi-fidelity MDAO workflows.
  • Create and maintain documentation and training materials for MDAO users across the division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited program.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in aircraft and/or missile design and analysis.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing MDAO methods.
  • Broad understanding of multiple engineering disciplines, including cost, configuration design, mass properties, lethality, structures, propulsion, aerodynamics, vehicle performance, thermal management, power management, systems engineering, survivability, operational analysis, mission systems, avionics, launch systems, and GNC.
  • Proven experience developing and deploying MDAO workflows and toolsets.
  • Experience with optimization, sensitivity analysis, uncertainty quantification (UQ), and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Ability to apply large language models and/or develop AI models to improve engineering processes with measurable efficiency gains.
  • Proficiency in Python and MATLAB in a version-controlled environment, preferably Git, with exposure to C, C++, or FORTRAN.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience contributing to methods development in a team setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex MDAO insights clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and SAP eligibility.
  • Preferred: advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • Preferred: experience using commercial MDAO frameworks such as ModeFRONTIER/VOLTA, Siemens HEEDS, or similar.
  • Preferred: ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance and SAP eligibility.
