Description

  • Build and own the Android presentation layer in Kotlin and Compose for flight UI, telemetry, video, mission planning, and review.
  • Shape the interface layout, interaction, and information hierarchy without a dedicated designer.
  • Co-own the shared Kotlin Multiplatform core, including the domain model, protocol, persistence, and sync logic.
  • Render live telemetry and video streams smoothly on constrained controller hardware.
  • Design the UI for field conditions such as degraded links, stale data, gloves, sunlight, vibration, and one-handed use.
  • Collaborate with engineers integrating the DJI SDK and consume the flight state they expose.
  • Participate in validating the product on real hardware and field testing.
  • Grow into the DJI SDK integration layer over time if interested.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
  • Expert-level Kotlin experience, including coroutines, structured concurrency, Flow, and generics.
  • 4+ years of Android development with applications shipped and maintained in production.
  • Strong understanding of Android lifecycle, foreground and bound services, process death, and long-running sessions.
  • Experience with performance profiling, memory, frame timing, battery, and thermal behavior on constrained devices.
  • Comfortable targeting older Android API levels and non-standard hardware without Play Services.
  • Deep Jetpack Compose experience, including state hoisting, recomposition, custom layouts, Canvas drawing, animation, and gesture handling.
  • Sound UI architecture skills, including unidirectional data flow and Flow-driven state.
  • Production experience with Kotlin Multiplatform, including expect/actual, source set layout, and Gradle multiplatform configuration.
  • Experience with Ktor, kotlinx-serialization, kotlinx-datetime, and SQLDelight or Room KMP is preferred.
  • Experience building UI on top of a device or hardware SDK such as Bluetooth, USB, cameras, IoT devices, medical or industrial equipment, vehicles, or robotics.
  • Professional working proficiency in English and ability to communicate clearly in writing.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote, distributed team.
  • DJI SDK experience, especially Mobile SDK v5, is a significant plus.
  • Experience with drone or autopilot platforms such as MAVLink, PX4, ArduPilot, Skydio, or Parrot is preferred.
