Description

  • Design, document, and manage whole-vehicle durability and accelerated mileage accumulation test plans across varied terrains and environmental conditions.
  • Lead and execute durability testing at proving grounds, public roads, and specialized test facilities while following safety protocols and test cycles.
  • Plan and execute on-vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition to capture loads, strains, and vibrations on critical vehicle systems.
  • Diagnose and investigate durability-related failures during road testing or early field operation and determine root cause through inspection and data analysis.
  • Track and verify the durability of newly integrated components such as suspension, steering, and brakes during vehicle-level testing.
  • Generate detailed reports on test results, vehicle degradation rates, and failure modes.
  • Communicate findings and recommended design mitigations to Vehicle Design and CAE teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in whole-vehicle durability testing, road load data acquisition, or performance validation in the automotive or heavy equipment industry.
  • Experience with electric vehicles is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with on-vehicle instrumentation setup, including strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement transducers, and thermocouple installation.
  • Experience setting up and operating multi-channel data acquisition hardware such as Somat, HBM, or Dewetron.
  • Working knowledge of data processing and analysis using nCode GlyphWorks, MATLAB, or Python for large-scale time-series data.
  • Familiarity with common automotive proving ground test procedures and standards such as Belgian Block, potholes, and rough road closures.
