Description

  • Design and execute predictive and descriptive analyses across finance, marketing, and product metrics to surface trends and optimization opportunities.
  • Lead research, proof-of-concept work, and full-lifecycle development of data-intensive applications, including agentic AI systems.
  • Own end-to-end data science solutions from research and data handling through deployment, optimization, and maintenance.
  • Work with sales, marketing, product, and operations stakeholders to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
  • Contribute to the growth of Alpaca’s data science capabilities by applying best practices in statistical modeling, MLOps, and advanced AI.
  • Develop and deploy models using high-volume transactional, customer, API usage, and third-party data.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support the evolution of data infrastructure and analytical approaches within a fast-paced distributed team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Data Scientist in the brokerage, trading, or financial services industry.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python, including common data science libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Deep understanding of statistical methods for supervised and unsupervised learning.
  • Strong portfolio of building and deploying production models.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift; Alpaca uses Trino and Iceberg.
  • Familiarity with modern ETL processes.
  • Ability to lead projects through the full lifecycle, including research, development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Direct experience with LLMs or agentic AI frameworks is preferred, with Google Agent Engine experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with semantic layers such as dbt Semantic Layer, Cube.js, or LookML is preferred.
