Description

  • Manage the full lifecycle of 10-15 retail projects at once, including feasibility, design development, construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration.
  • Build and maintain project schedules, milestone tracking, and risk logs, and develop mitigation plans to protect opening dates.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across design, real estate, construction, visual merchandising, and brand teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for assigned projects and escalate issues with proposed solutions.
  • Direct the internal design process, including plans, elevations, sections, details, specifications, and renderings.
  • Champion Alo's brand and design standards while balancing global consistency with local codes, landlord constraints, and market conditions.
  • Develop project-specific details and specifications when prototype standards must be adapted.
  • Manage architecture and design consultants through design development and construction documentation.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings for design conformance and catch deviations before they reach the field.
  • Partner with real estate, landlord, and construction teams on site evaluation, feasibility studies, lease negotiations, budgets, bidding, and contractor selection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • 10-15 years of design and project management experience.
  • Preferred experience in retail, hospitality, or high-volume multi-site projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and documentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of retail-related ADA compliance and applicable building codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present and defend design decisions to leadership, landlords, and consultants.
  • Strong relationship management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Sustainable building practice experience preferred.
  • LEED AP certification is a plus.
  • Portfolio of built retail, residential, or hospitality work that demonstrates design sensibility, technical acumen, and detailed documentation.
  • Experience translating brand and design intent into buildable, code-compliant documents under landlord or budget pressure.
  • Track record of managing 10+ concurrent projects in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience negotiating or advising on lease terms, tenant allowances, or landlord work letters from a design and construction perspective.
  • Collaborative, low-ego working style with the confidence to hold the line on quality.
