Description

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate data platform services supporting batch and real-time workloads.
  • Build distributed data services using Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, Flink, or equivalent technologies.
  • Develop data ingestion, processing, storage, integration, schemas, and data models across multiple systems.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code for repeatable platform environments.
  • Support Docker- and Kubernetes-based cloud platforms across AWS and/or Azure.
  • Monitor production services, investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve operational issues.
  • Improve platform performance, scalability, resilience, availability, security, and observability.
  • Contribute to technical designs, code reviews, engineering standards, and reusable platform patterns.
  • Collaborate with data, software, DevOps, architecture, and client teams.
  • Share knowledge and support less experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering, platform engineering, software engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Commercial experience as a Senior Data Platform Engineer, Senior Data Engineer, Platform Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar.
  • Strong hands-on experience building and operating cloud-native data platforms.
  • Strong programming skills in Java and/or Python, plus strong SQL and data-modelling knowledge.
  • Experience with real-time streaming and event-driven architectures, including Kafka, Kinesis, or equivalent.
  • Experience with distributed processing technologies such as Spark, Flink, or Kafka Streams.
  • Strong AWS and/or Azure experience, including services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, RDS, Athena, or EC2.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, CI/CD, Terraform or equivalent IaC, Docker, and/or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with GitHub/GitLab, monitoring, logging, observability, and production support.
  • UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance is required; public-sector, utilities, or regulated-environment experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Helm, ArgoCD, Airflow, dbt, Ansible, Packer, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog is desirable.
