Description

  • Own the full lifecycle of traffic-scoring models from problem framing through real-time deployment.
  • Architect and maintain offline-to-online data pipelines that produce certified source-of-truth datasets.
  • Build rigorous evaluation frameworks, including stratified benchmarks and leakage-prevention checks.
  • Optimize model inference within strict millisecond latency budgets at the internet edge.
  • Balance inference cost, value, and fail-open behavior across the fleet.
  • Partner with security analysts, data platform engineers, and infrastructure teams to integrate scoring into mitigation workflows.
  • Communicate model trade-offs and technical guidance to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead the team’s machine learning direction and mentor junior engineers on technical quality and design practices.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of applied experience in production ML in non-stationary, adversarial domains such as bot mitigation, traffic integrity, or fraud.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting scalable offline-to-online data pipelines for low-latency inference systems.
  • Strong foundation in model evaluation, including ROC/AUC, precision/recall, and calibration.
  • Experience with large-scale data engineering, including warehouse-scale SQL and high-volume event stream feature engineering.
  • Practical knowledge of internet edge infrastructure such as CDN/load balancer behavior and HTTP/TLS signatures.
  • Proven cross-functional leadership experience delivering initiatives through shared datasets and consumer contracts.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers on technical quality and design practices.
  • MS or PhD in a quantitative field such as Statistics or Machine Learning, or equivalent deep engineering experience.
  • Preferred: PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Preferred: Advanced expertise in graph-based coordination or Sybil network detection.
  • Preferred: Deep experience with causal or econometric methods to assess the business impact of false positives.
  • Preferred: Experience implementing Bayesian calibration for adversarially biased, sparse, or imbalanced datasets.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with data governance and platform engineering for certified datasets and downstream consumer contracts.
  • Preferred: Exposure to LLM agent tooling and benchmarking.

Benefits

  • Base pay range of $212,000 to $265,000 USD.
  • Eligible for bonus.

  • US remote-eligible role.
  • Occasional office or offsite work may be included by agreement with the manager.
