Description

  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, software engineers, and operations teams to define and scope ML solutions for Trust problems.
  • Design, build, and productionize end-to-end machine learning pipelines for batch and real-time use cases.
  • Develop, train, evaluate, and deploy models that detect fraud, account takeover, fake accounts, payment fraud, and bots.
  • Investigate emerging fraud patterns and threat signals and create ML-based detections and tools for faster response.
  • Write, review, and ship clean, testable code for models, pipelines, and scalable features.
  • Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data to improve ML models for product, business, and operational use cases.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and cross-team collaboration to strengthen ML engineering practices.
  • Adapt models and systems with trust defense and platform teams as fraud tactics evolve.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of industry experience in applied machine learning with a track record of building and productionizing models at scale.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with familiarity in Scala, Java, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of ML best practices, including training/serving skew minimization, A/B testing, feature engineering, and model selection.
  • Experience with ML frameworks and tooling such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or equivalent.
  • Experience building end-to-end ML pipelines and data engineering workflows, including batch and real-time systems.
  • Exposure to large-scale software architecture, including well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
  • Experience with test-driven development, incremental delivery, and deployment practices.
  • Exposure to the Trust and Risk domain such as fraud detection, anomaly detection, identity, or account integrity is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in CS/ML or a related field.
  • Must live in a US state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; the role is remote eligible with occasional office or offsite work.

Benefits

  • Base pay range of $200,000 to $235,000 USD.
  • Role may be eligible for bonus compensation.
  • Role may be eligible for equity.
  • Role may be eligible for benefits.
  • Role may be eligible for Employee Travel Credits.
  • US-remote eligible with occasional office or offsite work as agreed with the manager.
