Description

  • Build ML-based recommendation systems that personalize guest insurance coverage for different trip and user contexts.
  • Develop content personalization models that rank and select benefit messaging for each guest.
  • Create and productionize intent models to predict which coverages a guest is likely to value.
  • Use reinforcement learning to personalize decisions across the user journey, including entry point, pricing, and notification frequency.
  • Design and run adaptive experiments to learn efficiently under tight traffic constraints.
  • Analyze experiment results and turn them into clear scientific problem statements and roadmap opportunities.
  • Partner with product, engineering, operations, legal, and privacy teams to define ML requirements and compliance needs.
  • Develop, evaluate, and ship batch and real-time ML models and data pipelines at scale.
  • Prototype new ideas quickly, validate them through experiments, and productionize what works.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical, product, and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in machine learning or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or PhD with 2+ years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Hands-on experience building and shipping personalization or recommendation systems at scale.
  • Strong intuition for feature engineering, user modeling, and the full ML lifecycle, including training, serving, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Strong fluency in Python and SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch, Airflow, and a data warehouse environment.
  • Deep understanding of ML algorithms such as gradient-boosted trees, deep learning, and optimization.
  • Experience with experiment design, including A/B testing and multi-armed bandits, with causal inference as a plus.
  • Experience with LLMs, computer vision, or content-understanding topics is a strong plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and executive audiences.
  • Self-directed, product-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment.
  • Publications or presentations in recognized venues are a plus.

Benefits

  • Base pay range of $179,000 to $210,000 USD.
  • Eligible for bonus compensation.
  • Eligible for equity.
  • Eligible for benefits.
  • Eligible for Employee Travel Credits.
  • US remote-eligible position.
  • Occasional work from an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required.
