Description

  • Provide disease-state, product, and therapy-management education to patients, caregivers, and care team members using consumer-friendly language.
  • Serve as an ongoing resource to assess individual patient and caregiver needs and provide appropriate education and support throughout the treatment journey.
  • Engage with caregivers before, during, and after therapy initiation through in-person, telephonic, and virtual interactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across Marketing, Sales, Patient Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, and other teams within the assigned territory.
  • Share field insights with internal stakeholders to help develop tools and resources that close educational gaps and improve therapy management.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of Rett disease state, Acadia products, customer support programs, hub and patient assistance programs, and ambassador speaker programs.
  • Moderate, lead, and present caregiver speaker programs and participate in community events as needed.
  • Provide in-service education to physician offices about the Family Support Educator role and available patient support resources.
  • Identify and pursue leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities within the Family Support Educator team and broader organization.
  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and Acadia values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with an emphasis in life sciences; RN, MSN, or MBA is a plus.
  • For Family Support Educator: 5+ years of relevant healthcare or pharmaceutical experience, including at least 2 years in patient support or education.
  • For Senior Family Support Educator: 8+ years of relevant healthcare or pharmaceutical experience, including at least 5 years in patient support or education.
  • Clinical experience in hospital nursing, social work, patient advocacy, rare disease, neurology, or pediatrics may be considered equivalent.
  • Rare disease, product launch, advocacy, Medicaid, and Medicare expertise strongly preferred.
  • Strong background and understanding of the healthcare field environment.
  • Experience in patient/caregiver education, account management, advocacy, and provider-office or pharmaceutical support programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and leading without authority.
  • Strong patient-centric mindset with high emotional intelligence, empathy, and empathetic listening skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational, time management, and computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage expenses within allocated budgets and adapt to change.
  • Ability to travel up to 70%, depending on territory.
  • Must meet local, state, and federal vaccination requirements for in-person field coaching, customer visits, and event attendance.
