Description

  • Lead the design and development of backend services and APIs using Python and the Pyramid framework on AWS.
  • Architect and manage PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and performance optimizations for clinical-grade data.
  • Build and maintain AWS infrastructure including Kubernetes (EKS), Lambda, API Gateway, and cloud-to-cloud integration patterns.
  • Define backend coding standards, API design patterns, security best practices, and testing strategies.
  • Mentor and guide backend engineers and drive engineering excellence across the team.
  • Facilitate communication with client project stakeholders regarding project status and technical recommendations.
  • Participate in agile development activities including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and estimation.
  • Drive project delivery independently from conceptualization through deployment.
  • Ensure backend systems are reliable, observable, and secure.
  • Conduct code reviews and enforce engineering standards across the team.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or tech lead role.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing scalable backend services and APIs using Python.
  • Strong PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, query optimization, stored procedures, and data integrity.
  • Experience with AWS services including Kubernetes (EKS), Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, and IAM.
  • Must have experience with Python, JavaScript, SQL, REST APIs, OAuth 2, and Docker.
  • Experience with Jira, Bitbucket or GitHub, and Slack or Teams.
  • Strong understanding of SOLID principles, OOP, and clean architecture patterns.
  • Familiarity with OWASP security practices.
  • Preferred experience with the Pyramid Python web framework.
  • Preferred experience with TypeScript, VSCode, Snowflake, and SQLAlchemy.
  • Experience with clinical or healthcare data systems such as HL7, FHIR, GxP, or 21 CFR Part 11 is preferred.
  • Knowledge of microservices and serverless architectural patterns is preferred.
  • Experience with modern CI/CD tooling, container orchestration, unit testing, integration testing, and TDD is preferred.
  • English proficiency is required.
