Description

  • Own the target architecture for a cloud-native, service-oriented platform and guide incremental modernization through coexistence and monitored cutover.
  • Lead AWS cloud architecture, managed PostgreSQL (Aurora) data architecture, tenant isolation, networking, load balancing, and regional data residency.
  • Build and own infrastructure-as-code environments and automated CI/CD pipelines with testing and progressive, zero-downtime deployments.
  • Establish trunk-based GitHub development, peer review, engineering standards, and feature-flag practices.
  • Use agentic coding tools as the primary development methodology and coach engineers on safe, productive adoption.
  • Define AI-assisted code review, testing, and quality guardrails for a mission-critical accounting system.
  • Own observability, automated testing, reliability, resilience, root-cause analysis, and production issue resolution.
  • Build test harnesses to validate new-platform calculations against the legacy system before retiring legacy paths.
  • Set technical direction, mentor a distributed engineering team, and partner with the CPTO and operations leads on execution.

Requirements

  • Typically 10+ years building and operating production software, with demonstrated skill valued over tenure.
  • Fluent in reading, reasoning about, reviewing, and validating C#/.NET code; lifelong .NET specialization is not required.
  • Experience architecting and scaling complex systems, including incremental modernization, service decomposition, and cloud-native design.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices, containers, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, pub/sub, message queues, API gateways, fault tolerance, and self-healing.
  • Strong AWS and/or Azure experience with managed databases, networking, load balancing, managed services, and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, feature flags, and canary, blue/green, or rolling deployments.
  • Strong relational database and data-migration experience; PostgreSQL is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent performance optimization, troubleshooting, profiling, and production root-cause analysis skills.
  • Deep production experience with agentic tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, plus the ability to coach others.
  • Experience with GitHub and trunk-based development; disciplined testing, observability, and staged rollout practices.
  • Preferred: financial services or regulated-domain experience, SOC 1/SOC 2 controls, React with TypeScript, or Temporal and similar workflow engines.
