Description

  • Own the backlog and story quality for complex engagements spanning multiple engineering tracks or workstreams.
  • Translate product strategy and roadmap direction into epics, stories, and acceptance criteria with a high degree of independence.
  • Navigate ambiguous requirements by identifying gaps, driving clarification conversations, and making well-reasoned decisions.
  • Lead backlog refinement sessions and keep the team unblocked by ensuring story clarity.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies as a prepared senior contributor and help improve ceremony effectiveness.
  • Mentor and guide other Product Owners by reviewing stories and raising the quality bar.
  • Partner with UX to ensure research findings and design decisions are accurately reflected in the backlog.
  • Communicate backlog health, scope risks, and delivery signals to the PM and Delivery Lead.
  • Model and champion AI-forward backlog practices, including AI use in story writing, acceptance criteria, and requirements analysis.
  • Contribute product context in client-facing discussions when needed, including scope, requirements, and trade-offs.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst on software delivery teams.
  • 4+ years of experience in a consulting, professional services, or agency environment.
  • Proven experience owning complex backlogs across multi-team or multi-track engagements.
  • Experience working from both internal PM direction and direct client PM/PO direction.
  • Strong Agile/Scrum background with an understanding of how backlog quality impacts delivery outcomes.
  • Highly autonomous, with the ability to resolve requirements gaps without waiting for direction.
  • Skilled at working with client PMs and POs, including constructive pushback when needed.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce reliable documentation for engineering, QA, and stakeholders.
  • Effective working across globally distributed and cross-cultural teams.
  • Uses AI tools as a standard part of the PO workflow and can coach others on AI-forward backlog practices.
  • Preferred: Experience writing stories for products with AI/ML features, including recommendations, NLP, or generative features.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with how AI capabilities affect requirements definition and testing strategy.
