Description

  • Own the backlog and story quality for complex engagements spanning multiple engineering tracks or workstreams.
  • Translate product strategy and roadmap inputs into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria with strong independence.
  • Identify requirements gaps, drive clarifying conversations, and make defensible decisions when direction is incomplete.
  • Lead backlog refinement sessions and keep the team unblocked by maintaining clear, ready stories.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies as a prepared senior contributor and help improve their effectiveness.
  • Mentor and guide other Product Owners by reviewing their stories and raising the quality bar.
  • Partner with UX to ensure research findings and design decisions are accurately reflected in the backlog.
  • Communicate backlog health, scope risks, and delivery signals to the PM and Delivery Lead.
  • Model and promote AI-forward backlog practices, including AI use in story writing, acceptance criteria, and requirements analysis.
  • Contribute product context in client-facing discussions on scope, requirements, and trade-offs when needed.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst on software delivery teams.
  • 4+ years of experience in a consulting, professional services, or agency environment.
  • Proven experience owning complex backlogs across multi-team or multi-track engagements.
  • Experience working from both internal PM direction and direct client PM or Product Owner direction.
  • Strong Agile/Scrum background with understanding of how backlog quality affects delivery outcomes.
  • High autonomy in identifying and resolving requirements gaps without constant direction.
  • Ability to work effectively with client PMs and Product Owners, including pushing back constructively when needed.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce reliable documentation for engineering, QA, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively across globally distributed, cross-cultural teams.
  • Required use of AI tools as a standard part of the Product Owner workflow.
  • Ability to coach others on AI-forward backlog and documentation practices.
  • Preferred experience writing stories for products with AI/ML features, including recommendations, NLP, or generative capabilities.
  • Preferred familiarity with how AI product features affect requirements definition and testing strategy.
