Description

  • Work as a DBA for multiple customers on database migrations, high availability and disaster recovery solutions, clustering, monitoring, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Manage multiple long-term Azure data services projects simultaneously.
  • Scope, plan, implement, document, and present solutions to customers.
  • Provide cost-effective Azure platforms that meet customer requirements.
  • Support development, test, and production environments across customer engagements.
  • Assist with security definitions, user roles, and provisioning of Azure data services in collaboration with the Azure Infrastructure team.
  • Manage client expectations regarding scope, cost, and timeline.
  • Author high-quality project documentation and written case studies.
  • Mentor more junior team members and help resolve issues through collaboration.
  • Deliver complex projects on time and within budget while identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Support presales efforts by helping define scope estimates when bandwidth allows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer, engineering, data science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Multiple years of experience with a major RDBMS such as Oracle or SQL Server, with preference for deep Microsoft product experience.
  • Experience with database migrations from on-premises or other cloud platforms to Azure.
  • Moderate experience with OS clustering concepts and technologies.
  • Understanding of security roles and database security implementation.
  • Advanced experience with Always On AG, replication, log shipping, and mirroring.
  • Advanced experience with database objects and stored procedures.
  • Advanced experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code using Bicep or Terraform.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work strategically and tactically, independently, or as part of a virtual project team.
  • Extremely detail oriented and self-directed.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience designing logical and physical data models for cloud and hybrid data warehouse environments.
  • Preferred: Experience implementing data architectures for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Preferred: Experience with full life-cycle data warehouse implementations.
  • Preferred: Experience with data modeling tools such as ER/Studio or ER/Win.
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Azure Data Platform services including Azure Data Lake Store, Azure Storage, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Logic Apps, and APIs.
  • Preferred: Experience with data profiling and source-to-target mappings.
  • Preferred: Ability to provision and configure Azure data service resources.
  • Must be able to produce high-quality documentation for internal and external use.
  • Must not require work visa sponsorship at this time.
