Description

  • Develop and maintain quadruped animation systems for gameplay and multiplayer projects.
  • Set up Animation Blueprints, State Machines, Blend Spaces, Animation Layers, and transitions.
  • Create IK/FK, Full Body IK, procedural animation, Control Rig, and locomotion systems.
  • Implement walk, trot, canter, gallop, turns, starts, stops, and jumps.
  • Process, clean up, and retarget motion-capture data across different skeletons.
  • Debug foot sliding, popping, IK, blending, and network synchronization issues.
  • Optimize Animation Blueprints, Control Rig, and skeletal animation systems, including NPC crowds.
  • Implement networked locomotion, prediction, reconciliation, and synchronized Montages and states.
  • Collaborate with animators, designers, and programmers to improve animation pipelines and tools.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical animation or gameplay animation experience.
  • Hands-on quadruped character experience and a portfolio containing quadruped animation examples.
  • Strong Unreal Engine knowledge, including Animation Blueprints, Control Rig, IK Rig/Retargeter, Blend Spaces, and State Machines.
  • Understanding of animal biomechanics and quadruped locomotion, preferably including large or heavy animals.
  • Experience with rigging, skinning, skeleton setup, and motion-capture pipelines.
  • Experience with Maya, MotionBuilder, or a similar DCC tool.
  • Understanding of root motion, animation curves, notifies, Montages, additive animation, and animation debugging.
  • Understanding of replicated character state, latency, desynchronization, animation popping, and local versus network-driven variables.
  • Conversational English and experience on AA or AAA game projects.
  • Experience with Motion Matching/Pose Search, Python, C++ in Unreal, animation tools, or large-scale skeletal mesh optimization is preferred.
