Description

  • Evaluate customer designs for manufacturability and recommend appropriate 3D printing solutions and materials.
  • Develop and implement the applicable sourcing strategy.
  • Support production by troubleshooting order execution after orders are placed to ensure customer success.
  • Interface directly with 3D printing shops, internal staff, management, and customers.
  • Take on special projects to expand the capabilities of the manufacturing partner network.
  • Work with OEM equipment makers and internal subject matter experts to improve core competencies.
  • Assist partners in troubleshooting production issues and answering technical questions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, a technical field, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment in 3D printing, preferably at a multi-technology 3D printing shop.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing technology and material selection, printing cycle times, material limitations and costs, and geometry limitations.
  • Experience working with suppliers, OEM equipment providers, and customers.
  • Experience with 3D printing software such as Materialise Magics and Rhino (Rhinoceros 3D) is required.
  • Experience with general 3D CAD modeling software is preferred, with SolidWorks preferred.
  • Ability to identify design for manufacturing (DFM) issues from 3D models and drawings.
  • Prior experience in Design for Manufacturing of 3D printed components is preferred.
  • Injection molding experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and U.S. inspection/QA practices is a plus.
  • Ability to work quickly with customers to solve problems in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Exceptional English communication skills.
  • Familiarity with post-processing and finishes for printed parts is preferred.
  • Material selection knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing or requirements is a plus.
