Description

  • Interview engineering teams to identify workflow pain points and prioritize tools or architectural changes that remove friction.
  • Design and implement reusable patterns with Nest.js, React.js, and TypeScript that help other engineers ship high-quality services and interfaces by default.
  • Own systemic performance work, including optimizing slow PostgreSQL queries and refining Kafka producer/consumer patterns for reliable message delivery.
  • Manage and evolve Kubernetes and ArgoCD configurations to support seamless, automated, and safe deployments.
  • Lead cross-team technical initiatives such as re-architecting shared libraries and improving service-to-service communication.
  • Refactor complex legacy or overly sticky codebases into maintainable, testable, modern modules.
  • Mentor and coach engineers across the organization to strengthen technical skills and architectural understanding.
  • Research, prototype, and roll out internal tools, libraries, or frameworks that improve CI/CD, local development, or observability.
  • Introduce new frameworks or architectural changes and support adoption through documentation, workshops, and 1:1 guidance.
  • Lead code reviews and guide maintainable design, testing strategy, and system-level risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with a proven record of leading teams and providing technical direction.
  • Deep passion for mentorship and a history of developing associate and intermediate engineers.
  • Prior experience on Platform, Infrastructure, or Developer Experience (DevEx) teams.
  • Strong expertise in the Node.js/TypeScript ecosystem, including scaling Nest.js backends and React.js frontends.
  • Hands-on experience managing containerized workloads with Kubernetes and ArgoCD.
  • Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, including query optimization and schema design.
  • Strong proficiency in Kafka and event-driven architecture.
  • Proven ability to untangle complex legacy code and replace it with scalable, maintainable architecture.
  • Experience working in high-ambiguity environments and turning vague technical problems into prioritized roadmaps.
  • Ability to build psychological safety and trust while raising engineering quality standards.
  • Demonstrated success improving DORA metrics such as deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and MTTR.
  • Ability to meet strict P90 and P99 latency targets by addressing slow endpoints and database bottlenecks.
  • Bonus: Experience with AWS services such as MSK, RDS, EKS, S3, and Lambda.
  • Bonus: Strong background in Redshift, including schema design, ETL pipeline management, and query optimization.
  • Bonus: Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Bonus: Experience with Redis and distributed caching strategies.
  • Bonus: Proficiency in Python, including Celery and SQLAlchemy.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with serverless computing approaches.
  • Ability to travel to Orlando, Florida at least twice per year for town halls and team collaboration, plus orientation in Orlando.
