Description

  • Lead the annual data and technology roadmap by translating organizational priorities into a prioritized set of projects.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams and daily users across the organization.
  • Set clear expectations, resolve competing demands, and enforce prioritization across the department.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Data, Analytics, Engineering, and Technology department.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the Analytics Director and Senior Engineer.
  • Recruit, retain, and support technical staff while building a high-accountability team culture.
  • Develop and manage the department budget, vendor contracts, software subscriptions, and contractor relationships.
  • Oversee engineering infrastructure, including data pipelines, data warehousing, cloud infrastructure, web applications, and data modeling.
  • Ensure organizational data systems are stable, well-documented, and supported by incident response protocols.
  • Lead the organization’s AI strategy, including policy governance, tool evaluation, and safe adoption.
  • Partner on digital security, vendor compliance, and privacy requirements for new tools and deployments.
  • Build and maintain external relationships with key progressive data and technology partners and vendors.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in progressive political organizations, campaigns, or mission-driven institutions.
  • Experience leading projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience managing and developing staff.
  • Experience in data, analytics, engineering, or technology roles.
  • Ability to understand technical tradeoffs and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • At least 2 cycles of experience with electoral data, including voter file, volunteer management data, and voter contact data.
  • Familiarity with tools used in progressive organizing and campaigns such as EveryAction or equivalent CRM, Mobilize, and Scale to Win.
  • Progressive, pragmatic orientation toward AI and comfort supporting AI adoption.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S.-based candidates only and current authorization to work for any employer in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship available.
  • Preferred: ability to offer flexible support during general elections.
  • Preferred: familiarity with the progressive data ecosystem, including The Movement Cooperative, America Votes, and Analyst Institute.
  • Preferred: experience managing budgets, vendors, and contracts.
