Description

  • Own the data platform as a portfolio of internal data products with clear contracts for domain teams.
  • Redesign the deployment process to remove single-gatekeeper bottlenecks and enable safe production access.
  • Define and enforce gold certification by code for data quality and release promotion.
  • Own data security and governance, including least-privilege access and retirement of ad hoc database credentials.
  • Take key data products to general availability.
  • Stand up observability and production diagnostics to improve visibility into platform health.
  • Build the deployment and promotion operations that move data from raw input to published output.
  • Develop reusable, plug-and-play services such as entity resolution to replace one-off fixes.
  • Run platform workflows as automated, agentic systems using development harnesses.
  • Manage and lead data engineering ICs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform, or infrastructure, including team leadership.
  • Track record of building data products and teams from zero to one.
  • Deep command of data contracts, medallion or equivalent quality architecture, and promotion discipline.
  • Strong judgment in data security, including least privilege, trust boundaries, and access control.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted and agentic engineering as a primary way of working.
  • Strong SQL and systems thinking across UI, API, database, and infrastructure boundaries.
  • Ability to operate in an ambiguous, fast-moving startup environment.
  • Experience with MCPs, capability layers, or API-first data access patterns is preferred.
  • Experience with observability tooling and production diagnostics is preferred.
  • Experience with Postgres, DuckDB or MotherDuck, and cloud infrastructure is preferred.
  • Experience building internal developer tooling or data-product platforms is preferred.
