Description

  • Own SQL Server database schemas, performance tuning, stored procedures, and lifecycle management.
  • Architect, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, including orchestration, monitoring, error handling, and recovery.
  • Design data models and schemas for application, analytics, and reporting layers.
  • Define and enforce data contracts between source systems and downstream consumers.
  • Implement data governance, PII protection, access controls, audit logging, and encryption.
  • Manage backups, restore procedures, and disaster recovery for the data platform.
  • Coordinate schema changes, migration scripts, and deployments across development, staging, and production.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and data flow documentation.
  • Evaluate tools and technologies to improve the data platform.
  • Mentor engineers and analysts through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience with relational databases, APIs, batch or streaming patterns, and cloud data platforms.
  • Expert-level SQL and relational database experience, including stored procedures, query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
  • 3+ years of experience in data modeling, data lineage, and metadata management.
  • 3+ years of experience with orchestration or scheduling tools such as SSIS, Airflow, or Databricks.
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or a similar scripting language for automation.
  • Experience implementing data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and quality controls.
  • Experience with Git workflows, pull-request development, and versioned schema migrations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent software engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of embeddings, vector databases, document chunking, semantic retrieval, and knowledge base creation.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, ontology building, and enterprise data platform maintenance.
  • Strong communication and independent project execution skills.
  • Remote work eligibility; sponsorship is not available.
