Description

  • Own the preparation and accuracy of the P&L, cash flow statement, and balance sheet.
  • Run the monthly close on schedule and deliver a consistent, reconciled reporting package for management.
  • Own inventory and fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, write-offs, and reconciliations to the general ledger.
  • Maintain the financial model and build annual and quarterly budgets with department heads.
  • Track actual performance against budget and report variances with recommended corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain financial controls, including approval procedures, spend controls, segregation of duties, and controls over cash, receivables, and payables.
  • Manage in-house accountants and the outsourced accounting firm, including workload division, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Oversee payroll, multi-state tax registrations and filings, statutory reporting, and audit readiness.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and payment processing operations.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and product teams on pricing, new city launches, vendor contracts, warehouse and inventory processes, and payment system changes.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in accounting and finance, including ownership of a full monthly close as a Controller, Head of Finance, or equivalent.
  • Experience in the US market.
  • Experience with inventory and fixed asset accounting in a physical business.
  • Multi-state payroll and tax compliance experience.
  • Experience managing accounting staff and outsourced providers.
  • Experience in a company where processes had to be built rather than maintained.
  • Strong systems skills, including accounting system implementation or migration.
