Description

  • Perform copy-editing tasks on assigned projects or accounts to ensure linguistic quality and consistency.
  • Perform on-demand translation tasks as required for projects or accounts.
  • Serve as lead linguist on assigned accounts, taking ownership of linguistic quality and deliverables.
  • Own and validate deliveries translated internally or by external partners for one or more accounts into Korean.
  • Prepare, manage, and maintain language materials such as glossaries, style guides, and work instructions to keep them accurate and up to date.
  • Manage project-related queries and resolve terminology, style, and language questions among team members.
  • Coordinate with freelancers, agencies, and internal linguists; test and qualify new freelancers and vendors as required.
  • Develop and train internal linguists and freelancers in alignment with account requirements and Welocalize standards.
  • Interact with clients on linguistic matters, propose process improvements, and meet or exceed productivity, on-time delivery, and quality metrics.

Requirements

  • University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistics, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Native-level proficiency in Korean.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing.
  • 5+ years of experience in linguistic review and copy-editing.
  • Thorough understanding of the localization process.
  • Excellent knowledge of terminology across various subject matters (Marketing, Legal, UI & Customer Service preferred).
  • Experience serving as a subject-matter expert for assigned content specialties, service lines, and processes.
  • Proficient user experience with standard CAT tools (e.g., XTM, SDL Trados Studio) and issue-tracking/query-management tools (e.g., JIRA), and comfortable with Windows and Office applications.
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external translators, give clear and constructive feedback, train others, work to tight deadlines, solve practical problems, present to managers/clients, and operate effectively in a virtual team; availability to work US PST business hours (9:00–17:00) to align with client delivery times.
