Description

  • Define, prioritize, and maintain a multi-horizon AI innovation roadmap aligned to WelbeHealth’s mission and business goals.
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of AI initiatives from ideation and proof-of-concept through validation, iteration, and production deployment.
  • Partner with clinical, operations, compliance, and technology leaders to identify high-impact AI opportunities and drive adoption across the organization.
  • Evaluate build-versus-buy options across the AI vendor landscape, including vendor assessments, contract negotiations, and ongoing governance.
  • Monitor emerging AI technologies and recommend new approaches that can improve participant outcomes, efficiency, or team productivity.
  • Provide technical guidance on AI application architecture, including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, enterprise LLM integration, and secure cloud deployment.
  • Ensure AI systems and data practices comply with HIPAA, PHI handling requirements, and healthcare-specific regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and security teams to embed privacy-by-design principles into AI solutions.
  • Lead and develop a team of AI Engineers while serving as a senior thought partner to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Maintain accountability for delivery quality, timelines, and technical standards across the AI engineering portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, AI, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering, applied AI development, or software engineering with a strong AI focus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a technical leadership or people management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute a technology or AI product roadmap and align cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience designing, building, and deploying production-grade enterprise AI/LLM solutions on platforms such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini.
  • Experience with prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, agentic frameworks and workflows, AI assistants, and multi-model orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience architecting and deploying AI services in secure cloud environments, primarily Azure; AWS is a plus.
  • Experience with Docker, private networking, managed identities, and DevOps/CI/CD pipelines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and a strong software engineering background, including API and service integration.
  • Ability to engage in hands-on technical design and code review with engineering staff.
  • Experience working in healthcare technology or with HIPAA/PHI compliance requirements is preferred.
