Description

  • Review assigned PDF pages for Malayalam content, legibility, meaningful content, and absence of personal details.
  • Identify, bound, classify, and sequence every meaningful page region, including text, tables, figures, diagrams, formulas, and form fields.
  • Record parent-child relationships between regions and their associated figures or tables.
  • Transcribe all visible text exactly in Malayalam script, including handwritten content, and flag illegible regions.
  • Capture metadata such as language, document type, source, page dimensions, tables, formulas, and handwriting.
  • Review other annotators’ work end to end as a second Malayalam-language expert.
  • Flag unsuitable pages before beginning detailed annotation.

Requirements

  • Native-level Malayalam fluency with full command of Malayalam script, diacritics, conjunct forms, and orthography.
  • Ability to perform all annotation and transcription work in Malayalam script rather than transliteration.
  • Experience with document annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review.
  • Strong character-level accuracy and attention to diacritics.
  • Ability to apply a document taxonomy consistently across large volumes of pages.
  • Comfort working with multi-column newspapers, exam papers, handwritten forms, and other unfamiliar layouts.
  • Experience with regional-language AI data annotation, labeling, grading, or bilingual evaluation preferred.
  • Experience with MTPE, subtitling, bilingual QA, OCR correction, or post-editing preferred.
  • Knowledge of Malayalam typesetting, copy-editing, proofreading, digitization, Unicode normalization, or input methods preferred.

Benefits
