Description

  • Architect and build data handling systems that meet GDPR requirements, including consent management and right-to-be-forgotten automation.
  • Develop computer vision and machine learning pipelines to detect and blur faces, license plates, and other personal data from camera and lidar inputs.
  • Write scalable code in C++, Java, or Kotlin to enforce retention policies, access controls, and data minimization across distributed systems.
  • Partner with Legal and Policy teams to translate regulatory requirements such as GDPR and the EU Data & AI Act into engineering specifications.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and threat modeling for new features, with attention to cross-border data transfers and third-party vendors.
  • Work closely with Product, Legal, and AI/ML teams to embed privacy by design into sensor data ingestion, mapping, and rider experiences.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on privacy, security, or data infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
  • Deep understanding of GDPR.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Flume or MapReduce and cloud infrastructure.
  • Preferred: prior experience helping a US-based tech company launch products in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK.
  • Preferred: familiarity with privacy-preserving machine learning techniques such as Differential Privacy, Federated Learning, or Homomorphic Encryption.
  • Preferred: experience building first-class user-facing products.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $170,000 to $216,000 USD.
