Description

  • Lead the transition from outsourced database management to an in-house operating model.
  • Architect, plan, and execute migration of legacy Oracle workloads to PostgreSQL.
  • Serve as the in-house subject matter expert for PostgreSQL design, implementation, and administration.
  • Lead database workload management across a multi-cloud environment, with primary focus on AWS and GCP and support for Azure.
  • Analyze complex queries and optimize database server settings across Oracle and PostgreSQL platforms.
  • Use enterprise performance monitoring tools to proactively tune and maintain database systems.
  • Ensure database compliance with SOX requirements, including encryption, access controls, and quarterly account reviews.
  • Maintain awareness of Oracle licensing and compliance requirements to reduce financial risk during the transition.
  • Define and implement backup, recovery, RTO/RPO, failover, and automated backup strategies using native cloud tooling.
  • Provide Level III escalation support for critical production incidents, including after-hours support and on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Oracle Database Administration across 11g, 12c, and 19c environments.
  • Experience administering Oracle databases in heterogeneous Linux and Windows environments.
  • High proficiency in PostgreSQL administration, including migration of enterprise-scale workloads from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
  • Proven experience managing databases in multi-cloud environments, with strong AWS and GCP proficiency required and Azure experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server environments is a strong plus.
  • General understanding of Oracle License Management Services (LMS) and compliance strategies.
  • Experience with enterprise automated job scheduling and database performance monitoring platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of database design, logical data models, and data normalization.
  • Hands-on experience with backup and recovery planning, failover testing, and automated backup processes.

Benefits

  • Base salary of CAD $106,250 to $125,000 annually.
