Description

  • Lead and develop a small team of senior AI engineers, setting technical direction and fostering a culture of ownership and experimentation.
  • Own execution of the AI Labs roadmap from problem framing and data pipeline design through deployment and iteration.
  • Stay hands-on by contributing to architecture decisions, backend systems, and production code for AI features.
  • Work directly with customers in a forward-deployed model to understand constraints and iterate on scalable agentic solutions.
  • Lead technical scoping workshops and interface with city leaders to address local problems with agentic workflows.
  • Drive engineering work across data consolidation, predictive modeling, real-time decision-making, and LLM-powered experiences.
  • Collaborate with product, data science, and operations teams to prioritize high-impact AI opportunities.
  • Bring new AI ideas, tools, and approaches into the team proactively and stay current with frontier developments.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping AI-powered products end-to-end.
  • Deep expertise across the AI/ML stack, including LLMs, predictive modeling, and production data infrastructure.
  • Experience leading senior engineering talent and providing direct feedback to high-performing teams.
  • Strong backend engineering experience with scalable APIs and distributed systems.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code and design systems built to last.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, early-stage, fast-moving environments and creating clarity for a team.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills with city partners, product leadership, and engineers.
  • Willingness to travel and collaborate on-site with partners and customers.
  • Experience working on agentic solutions or forward-deployed customer engagements (preferred).

Benefits

  • Salary range of $275,000 to $325,000.
