Description

  • Design and build low-latency, high-availability backend services for alarm detection and response.
  • Create flexible AI-powered workflows for intrusion and video monitoring use cases.
  • Build distributed systems that integrate internal products and third-party services such as notifications, transcription, and dispatch.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, frontend engineers, and firmware engineers on end-to-end customer experiences.
  • Support AI-driven detection and response workflows that power automated threat identification, customer notifications, video verification, and emergency dispatch.
  • Work across Verkada’s hardware and cloud platforms to deliver reliable security experiences.
  • Contribute to systems used in high-stakes, real-time security situations.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of backend engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Strong programming skills, with Go preferred.
  • Solid understanding of distributed system design, API architecture, and event-driven workflows.
  • Experience working with databases such as Postgres.
  • Experience with scalable data systems such as Kafka and Redis.
  • Familiarity with Temporal or other workflow engines (bonus).
  • Experience building AI-based systems capable of real-time reasoning from video and audio inputs (bonus).
