Description

  • Set technical direction for the applicant funnel and define the end-to-end "Got Rate → Funded Loan" architecture.
  • Identify and resolve systemic bottlenecks that affect conversion, latency, and reliability.
  • Lead large cross-team initiatives spanning Growth, Verifications Platform, Risk/Decisioning, and Lending Partners.
  • Align multiple teams around cohesive technical strategies and execution plans.
  • Drive decomposition of tightly coupled systems into scalable, reusable services and APIs.
  • Translate complex business problems into systems that balance product velocity, risk, compliance, and maintainability.
  • Partner with product, risk, compliance, and operations teams to deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Drive experimentation, instrumentation, and data-driven iteration across the funnel.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for AI-driven experiences such as adaptive flows, conversational interfaces, and automation.
  • Raise engineering standards through best practices in system design, observability, testing, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor senior and staff engineers and influence engineering culture across the organization.
  • Provide technical leadership beyond the team and drive alignment with leadership on long-term risks and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience, plus 8 years of experience.
  • Proven experience operating at a Staff or Principal level leading large, ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, and system design at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience modernizing tightly coupled systems into modular services with clear interfaces while maintaining reliability and continuity.
  • Experience with experiment-driven development, including instrumentation, A/B testing, analysis, and iteration.
  • Ability to translate product goals into technical execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Track record of mentoring and developing other engineers while seeking and incorporating constructive feedback.
  • Experience with full-stack web development using Ruby on Rails, React, and cloud-native development, with AWS preferred.
  • Experience with Docker, GitHub Actions, CI/CD technologies, and infrastructure as code.
  • Familiarity with onboarding or funnel optimization in high-scale consumer products, including conversion and time-to-complete improvements.
  • Experience in customer support tech domains such as contact center platforms, customer engagement solutions, or conversational AI systems.
  • Experience building in regulated or high-trust domains such as fintech, lending, identity/verification, or payments.
  • Comfort working as a distributed team member with a few hours of Zoom per day for collaboration.
  • Availability to work with East and West coast time zones.
  • Role is remote and available in the United States.
