Description

  • Build a deep understanding of the Lending Partnerships business and support internal clients on their goals.
  • Serve as a key legal partner to the Lending Partnerships commercial team, advising on risk mitigation and business growth.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including purchase agreements, loan sale agreements, servicing agreements, master services agreements, software licenses, and SOWs.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to quickly escalate, resolve, and close negotiation issues.
  • Develop processes and templates for commercial transactions to support a rapidly growing business.
  • Handle broader commercial, business development, and transactional legal matters across the organization.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree with solid academic credentials and a state bar membership; NY or CA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience at a law firm in a transactional practice area, or a combination of in-house and law firm experience focused on transactional/commercial matters.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex B2B SaaS agreements is required.
  • Experience with commercial agreements involving financial services and/or technology licenses in a heavily regulated environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through intense and complex negotiations and manage expectations with sales leadership.
  • Strong issue-solving mindset with ownership to drive matters from start to finish.
  • Very high standards for work product and ability to work with similarly high-performing teammates.
  • 10+ years of experience, ideally including prior in-house roles at a fintech, financial services, or technology company, is preferred.
  • Experience leading and closing complex commercial negotiations, such as high-value purchase agreements or strategic partnership deals, is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal and risk concepts into clear guidance for non-lawyers is preferred.
  • Experience mentoring teammates and helping build efficient, scalable legal processes is preferred.
  • Eagerness to work cross-functionally on product, AI, and data issues and unfamiliar areas of law is preferred.

  • Base salary of $179,900 to $249,100 USD for U.S. remote and Canada remote roles.
