Description

  • Design, build, validate, and monitor simulation-based predictive and pricing models across sports, markets, and time horizons.
  • Own the full model lifecycle from problem framing and feature design through backtesting, calibration, deployment, documentation, and production monitoring.
  • Apply Bayesian inference to update priors and incorporate new information into pricing decisions.
  • Combine internal models, sportsbook prices, exchange data, and trader feedback into fair-value estimates.
  • Evaluate models against market benchmarks and trading outcomes, diagnosing weaknesses and prioritizing improvements.
  • Use AI-assisted workflows for research, coding, testing, debugging, review, and documentation while maintaining methodological and code quality.
  • Develop reusable, reliable, and reproducible Python modeling components using Git and GitHub.
  • Partner with traders, engineers, and product teams to launch new sports and markets and resolve operational issues.
  • Provide technical leadership through model and code reviews, design documentation, standards, and support for other modelers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in sports modeling, quantitative research, predictive analytics, or a related field, including ownership of production models.
  • Demonstrated experience building simulation-based sports models that produce calibrated probabilities evaluated against real markets or financial decisions.
  • Deep knowledge of probability, statistical modeling, Bayesian inference, simulation, backtesting, calibration, and model validation.
  • Strong understanding of sportsbook and exchange-market dynamics, including liquidity, pricing, market limits, and order books.
  • High proficiency in Python and practical experience with Git and GitHub in collaborative production environments.
  • Advanced experience with AI coding and research tools, including the ability to direct and verify their output.
  • Strong ownership, attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work through changing priorities and incomplete information.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends during major sports periods and time-sensitive launches.
  • Experience with market makers, proprietary trading firms, prediction markets, exchanges, sportsbooks, in-play models, modeling infrastructure, CI/CD, or cloud computing preferred.
  • Experience optimizing performance-critical code in C++ or Rust and a passion for sports preferred.
