Description

  • Own and develop strategy for complex civil defense matters from discovery through trial.
  • Handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, substantive motions, mediations, and trials independently.
  • Develop compelling case themes and prepare matters for trial.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and insurance carriers.
  • Work with experts and collaborate with attorneys across experience levels.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective firm clients.
  • Provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys.

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active Pennsylvania Bar license required; dual Pennsylvania and New Jersey admission strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
  • Experience independently managing all aspects of cases, including discovery and trial preparation.
  • Strong experience in discovery, depositions, mediation, motion practice, and litigation support.
  • Meaningful trial experience, including trials to verdict, second-chair work, or substantial pretrial/courtroom experience, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with general liability, premises liability, trucking/commercial auto, professional liability, construction, medical malpractice, or similar defense matters.
  • Strong client and carrier relationship-management and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior billing and time-management-system experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $150,000–$200,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Annual billable-hours bonus starting at $10,000, with $7,500 for each additional tier.
