Description

  • Work with Strategic and New Business Account Executives, Solutions Engineers, Professional Services, and Twilio Partners to plan for deal success.
  • Participate in qualification, discovery, demonstrations, proof-of-concept work, RFP responses, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions.
  • Develop deep subject matter expertise in customer needs and Twilio’s communications technology.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to uncover customer challenges and map them to Twilio solutions.
  • Build and deliver complex presentations and product demos for Twilio Communications products.
  • Support strategic pilot and proof-of-concept implementations for large enterprise accounts across APJ.
  • Propose technical architectures and provide creative solutions to complex communications and customer engagement problems.
  • Anticipate customer concerns and help secure technical win and product fit.

Requirements

  • Native or business fluency in English and Japanese, including speaking and writing.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a technical pre-sales role in CPaaS, SaaS, or telecom.
  • Strong understanding of the sales cycle and the role of a pre-sales engineer.
  • Solid knowledge of voice protocols such as VoIP, SIP implementations, or messaging APIs.
  • Ability to collaborate, solve problems creatively, and build customer trust through strong communication.
  • Ability to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to ask effective questions and translate customer needs into technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure and cloud application architectures.
  • Experience writing code in one or more backend languages such as Java, C#, Node.js, Python, or PHP, and/or web technologies such as JavaScript or React.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Hands-on backend development experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with mobile development, especially iOS and Android, is preferred.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications, SIP, WebRTC, or contact center technical roles is preferred.
  • Experience with automation, cloud-native development, and major cloud platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with sales methodologies is preferred.
  • Role is remote and based in Japan.
  • Approximately 35% travel is expected.
