Description

Lead the legal function, manage day-to-day operations and budget, and provide strategic direction and mentorship.
Draft, structure, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including software service agreements, partnerships, and vendor contracts.
Develop and maintain the company’s regulatory compliance framework and advise on compliance issues.
Monitor and interpret relevant laws and regulations, especially the FCRA.
Advise leadership on legal risk, compliance, and broader legal frameworks to support business growth.
Research and respond to complex operational and regulatory inquiries.
Collaborate with executives and managers to create and implement company-wide legal and compliance policies.
Maintain corporate records, support financings, and help ensure the company remains in good standing.
Manage outside counsel relationships to secure high-quality, cost-effective support across jurisdictions.
Serve as a general legal point person across labor, privacy, IP, litigation, immigration, and other matters.

Requirements

4-8 years of legal experience, likely including a mix of big law and in-house experience.
JD from an ABA-accredited program.
Active bar membership in any U.S. state or regional equivalent.
Ability to communicate legal issues in clear, actionable, data-driven terms for business and technical teams.
Experience negotiating and managing complex technology transactions.
Experience in highly regulated industries is preferred.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to operate autonomously.
Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment with urgency and ambiguity.
Experience with transactions such as equity fundraising, debt financing, and M&A is a plus.
High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality and integrity.
