Description

  • Own day-to-day administration of Azure IaaS infrastructure, including VMs, virtual networking, storage accounts, Key Vaults, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Design, operate, and continuously improve cloud infrastructure, identity, endpoint management, and security for a distributed workforce and field devices.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory lifecycle tasks: RBAC, Conditional Access policies, MFA, SSO integrations, and identity governance.
  • Administer SQL Server and Azure SQL Managed Instances, including patching, performance monitoring, and ensuring availability.
  • Lead endpoint management for ~2,000 Windows 11 devices and ~800 Zebra Android handhelds via Microsoft Intune, covering policy configuration, compliance, app deployment, and device rollouts.
  • Maintain and optimize Microsoft 365 E5 services such as Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and the Microsoft Defender security suite.
  • Perform patch management, vulnerability remediation, and enforce security baselines across servers and endpoints.
  • Execute and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures; participate in DR testing and unplanned outage response.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to reduce manual operational overhead, document system configurations and architecture decisions, and maintain operational runbooks.
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation, support planned maintenance windows and off-hours patching, and act as an escalation point for infrastructure issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on Windows Server administration in production environments.
  • 4+ years of Azure IaaS experience (VMs, VNets, NSGs, Storage, Key Vaults, Azure Virtual Desktop).
  • Strong Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) expertise including RBAC, Conditional Access, identity governance, and hybrid identity.
  • Production experience with SQL Server and/or Azure SQL Managed Instances (patching, performance, availability).
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for infrastructure automation and operational tooling.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint) and familiarity with Microsoft Defender/EPP/EDR within the M365 E5 stack.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewall concepts, VPN, routing).
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and self-direct priorities without daily oversight, with strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Comfortable participating in a shared on-call rotation (~1 week every few weeks) and performing occasional off-hours maintenance and patching.
  • Preferred: hands-on Fortinet (FortiGate/FortiManager) experience; Microsoft Intune policy authoring and endpoint management across Windows and Android; vulnerability management experience with Defender Vulnerability Management or equivalent; experience with Zebra/rugged Android device deployments; relevant certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, SC-300, MS-102 or equivalent).
