Description

  • Build an automation framework from scratch, starting with API-level coverage of critical end-to-end happy path flows.
  • Run exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and failure modes that requirements and specs may miss.
  • Mentor QA team members and help them adopt more technical and structured testing practices.
  • Collaborate with developers to promote shared ownership of quality and improve unit test coverage.
  • Own feature aftercare by monitoring production releases, tracking stability, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Identify quality gaps early and bring them into product discussions throughout the development cycle.
  • Track QA metrics such as bug detection rate, release confidence, and post-release defect counts.
  • Advocate for quality across engineering, product, and design to make testing a team habit rather than only a QA responsibility.
  • Work alongside the junior QA specialist and mid-level QA analyst while reporting to the QA Team Lead.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of QA experience with hands-on automation work and structured manual and exploratory testing.
  • Experience building automation frameworks rather than only using existing ones.
  • Fluency in at least one programming language.
  • Ability to make and defend tooling decisions without relying on a predefined specification.
  • Strong understanding of when to use automation, manual testing, and exploratory testing.
  • Ability to influence without authority across developers, designers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Comfort articulating risks clearly and pushing back when something is not ready to ship.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools, particularly Datadog, is preferred.
  • Experience working across web, mobile, and API surfaces in a single product is preferred.
  • Experience with SQL for data validation, debugging, exploratory testing, and root cause analysis is preferred.
