Description

  • Lead the Platform Engineering team responsible for GCP infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, CI/CD, observability, infrastructure-as-code, developer experience, and FinOps.
  • Own technical direction, architecture quality, engineering standards, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Define and maintain a roadmap connecting engineering initiatives to customer and business outcomes.
  • Build systems, playbooks, and feedback loops for incident response, onboarding, reliability, and team autonomy.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Engineering Managers and individual contributors.
  • Own delivery metrics such as cycle time, deployment frequency, and incident rate, driving continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to scope, resource, and deliver outcomes across globally distributed teams.
  • Hire engineers and establish a high-performing, inclusive team culture.
  • Contribute to engineering leadership, promote AI-first practices, and help scale the leadership operating model. 

Requirements

  • Experience as an engineering leader managing managers and owning outcomes across multiple squads in a fast-moving product environment.
  • Strong technical foundation in backend and distributed systems.
  • Experience setting technical direction, evaluating architecture, and making engineering trade-offs visible.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and platforms, preferably GCP, networking, CI/CD, observability, infrastructure-as-code, and FinOps.
  • Clear, confident communication skills for aligning Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities, including managing performance and developing emerging talent.
  • AI-first mindset and curiosity about using new tools to improve engineering speed and quality.
  • Commitment to high-trust, inclusive, team-oriented leadership.
  • Written consent to a police/criminal background check where legally permitted; Traild is an E-Verify employer.
