Description

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing data platform engineering team.
  • Own delivery of complex data initiatives, including scope, milestones, dependencies, capacity, risks, and target dates.
  • Establish delivery discipline through effective planning, estimation, sequencing, readiness reviews, and risk escalation.
  • Assess technical and implementation risks while partnering with Staff Engineers and technical leaders on architecture and quality decisions.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships to align priorities, resolve tradeoffs, and communicate status and decisions.
  • Drive operational excellence across production support, on-call readiness, incident management, data quality, observability, and reliability.
  • Guide the evolution of data ingestion, transformation, lakehouse and cloud architecture, governance, and reusable platform capabilities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of direct management experience leading software or data engineers in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated success building, coaching, developing, and managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from planning through production with strong delivery and risk management.
  • Strong technical depth in data ingestion, ETL/ELT, distributed processing, data modeling, cloud architectures, and production data systems.
  • Experience with AWS, S3, Iceberg, Glue, Airflow, Spark/PySpark, Athena, or comparable technologies.
  • Knowledge of testing, data quality, observability, incident management, on-call operations, version control, CI/CD, and production reliability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience with enterprise-scale data lakehouses, data platforms, or infrastructure preferred.
  • Healthcare data, governance, metadata, security, privacy, regulated environments, or engineering-team maturation experience preferred.

  • Annual salary of $175,000–$195,000, plus bonus and benefits.
